DH

Day 09 – A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

My dear, sweet husband! We've been through a lot together and he's always so patient with me. I was very fortunate to have met him when I did because he was there for me when my dad passed away and I don't know how I would have been able to handle that without him. We've been through 3 deployments in 4 years of marriage and I have to say, there is no one else I can imagine being put through that for. He's a great husband, father and marine. He's definitely my hero! I love you, Billy! We can't wait to see you again!

3 in 1

Day 06 – A picture of a person you’d love to trade places with for a day.

Day 07 – A picture of your most treasured item.

Day 08 – A picture that makes you laugh

I'm cheating a bit, but this picture fits all of the above! I'd like to trade places with him for a day just so I can understand what makes him tick. He's the most treasured item I have. Finally, this picture still makes me laugh, almost two years later. Rasta! I love my little guy!

Memories

Day 05 – A picture ......of …your favorite memory.

This was the day Billy met David for the first time. After much screaming and crying on David's part and maybe some whimpering on Billy's, this was the end result. They both look a little shell-shocked. Still makes me laugh! Ahh, memories.

Night

Day 04 – A picture of your night.

I thought a video of my night watching David and Emma, best friends, dancing the night away, would be more appropriate!

Fifteen fantastic facts

Day 1--Picture of yourself with fifteen facts

1.  I'm thinking I won't last through this 30 days...let's see how far I get.
2.  So proud of the Japanese people...in the midst of the turmoil, they manage to maintain their dignity and humanity.  Check the story out here.
3.  I've gotten pretty good at tuning my son out...if only he didn't talk so much.  Then, I'd be great at meeting his needs sooner.  Does that make me a bad mom? : /
4.   Slowly, but surely figuring out the punctuation marks as faces, etc.  Took me a long while to figure out that <3 meant love or heart and not less than three...lol.  Thank you facebook friends who frequently use these!
5.  Goodness, I'm only on five?
6.  29 stumps, deuce niner,  and the armpit of the world are a few nicknames of this lovely or not-so-lovely  (depends on who you ask) town I live in.
7.  Once upon a time, in the not so distant past, I had a strong thought in my head stating, "I will NEVER marry a marine!"  That's what I get for thinking, huh?
8.  Deployments suck!
9.  People warn you about the terrible twos, but you never hear anything about the thundering threes...why is that?  Threes are much worse!
10.  Threes might be worse than the twos, but David sure knows how to crack me up...out of the mouth of babes and all.
11.  I can't use the excuse, "He learned that from his dad."  I guess I'd better be careful what I say.
12.  I learned today that Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johannsen have moved on to other love interests (didn't even know they were dating, much less got married).
13.  You can learn a lot in two hours waiting for a simple lube to be done on your car, mainly trashy Hollywood stories (see number 12).
14.  Looking at David's baby pictures makes me ache for another baby...I sure could use a nursery fix at this moment from LDS hospital, in the middle of the night, with 20 screaming babies and no other nurse or aide in sight!
15.  I've been blessed with such great friends in my life!  Sure would love to read all facts about you!

Deployment Milestone

On the last deployment, I remember receiving an email saying that we should not be sending any more care packages to our loved ones.  I was so excited because it meant that Billy was getting closer to being home!  Well, this week we received word that we shouldn't be sending any more packages around April 15th.    Never has tax day looked so good!  A huge milestone in this deployment and one step closer to his homecoming!

Last Sunday, I watched the Lifetime show, Coming Home.  I have never cried so much in a one hour show!  Not in the "so depressing" tears, but in the "so happy for them" tears.  Maybe, a few tears were shed for being "just a bit envious."  I used to dream that those happy families would end up being us and that Billy could come home early and surprise us like that!

For those who don't have Lifetime and haven't heard of the show, it's mainly about service men or women returning home from Iraq or Afghanistan and surprising their loved ones.  So, very touching and such a tear jerker!  I was watching it with David and he was asking all sorts of questions, mainly why, but I explained to him that these Daddies were coming home from "Aganistan" and ready to play games with their sons, like his dad would be ready to play games with him.  He got so excited and I'm sure is looking forward to that day!  Can't wait!

Doctor David

Photobucket
Every week, David and I go to the library for reading time.  One week, we checked out a Barney the Dinosaur book called, "What am I going to be" or something like that.   I know, right?!  Barney! (eyes rolling) Well, after I read the book to him, I asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up and he says, "A doctor!"

He may have come to that conclusion because he had just had his wellness check-up or perhaps, it was the only occupation he's heard of and understood in the book.  It definitely isn't the fact that I'm a nurse and influenced him...not a bit ;).  But I digress.

Since David has decided on his career path, he's also picked up a hobby...that of fixing things around the house.  How he goes about this is taking his wooden hammer puzzle piece and going around pounding the walls, door knobs, chairs, tables, and whatever he can get his hands on.

Yesterday, we had a playdate with David's new "best fwiend," Emma.  I was talking to Emma's mom when David comes running to me and in a breathless voice says, "Mama, Emma fell in my bed and hurt 'is nose.  I a doctor and fix it with my hammer.  Now he all better!"  We were both alarmed at first, but when we asked Emma if she was okay, she responded, "YES!"  That's when we cracked up!
Three, for me, may be the hardest age yet, but he sure can keep me laughing!
